More FAQ...

What is a house concert?
A house concert is a party at someone's home where friends and neighbours enjoy live music and meet professional performers in an intimate environment.
Why do people have house concerts?
For many reasons. They are safe (it's in your own neighbourhood); intimate (you get to meet the musicians); economical (you stay at home and be entertained) and fun (a great way to liven up a party).
Can anyone host a house concert?
Almost anyone can. The host must have a room large enough to seat all invited guests as well as sufficient space for the performers. In summer, house concerts can be held outdoors.
How long are the performances?
A performance will be divided into two sets each ranging from 40 to 50 minutes with a 15-20 minute break so the musicians can meet and chat with your guests.
What do I supply?
You supply some light refreshments or it could be a pot-luck. Guests can bring their own drink of choice. Chairs, cushions, whatever you have on hand for your guests to sit on plus you can ask them to bring their own folding chair if they have one.
Do I need to provide a PA system?
No. For small indoor concerts of less than 30 people, no PA is generally required. For outside concerts or for larger indoor concerts, the performers will supply any equipment required.
As host, do I need to do any public advertising?
House concerts are not public events. They are private parties. However, you can ask your invited guests to bring friends which is often done.
Who should I invite?
Friends, neighbours, relatives...the same people you would invite to any big party at your home. Remember to encourage RSVP's since you will need to plan sufficient seating.
How large or small can a house party be?
The space you have defines how large the concert can be. The larger the better. Most house concerts have between 20 and 40 people but can be as small as 10.
How much should the cover charge be?
Cover charges range from $10 to $20
How do the musicians get paid?
The performers receive the full door fee.
