House Concert FAQ

Warm, toe tapping folk/roots with a blue grass edge

Thanks for visiting our site. We are an Ottawa-based duo who combine our love of Appalachian ballads with our own compositions to produce a modern sound with clear traditional roots. The stories in our songs are presented with sweet, tight harmonies and sparkling instrumentals on guitar, dobro and old-time banjo.

We have just released our newest CD "Sugar Babe". Here's what Chopper McKinnen, Producer/Host of Canadian Spaces CKCU-FM, has to say about it:

"The strength of Sugar Babe is immediately obvious...big presence both instrumentally and vocally. Kate & Hollis' excellent playing is enhanced by guests like Emory Lester (mandolin) and Sarah Hill (violin). Very tasty indeed!! There are two things you will hear from K&H's voices. The first is the strength and then the total honesty... and you will hear these from beginning to end. Of the thirteen tracks only two are traditional. Kate & Hollis have penned the remaining eleven. The writing is poignant, approachable, and honest. Kudos to all involved."
